I have a 56 ford F150 big window long bed with a 351 windsor and everything else is stock and at it's original stage but needs little body work and needs paint and has no back window. I can not find long bed running boards for the truck and I tried everywhere. I have the short bed running boards, but would have to chop the bed. I like the truck for around town odd and ends and with the long bed I get allot of use from the truck. I thought about customizing the truck as is and doing some fabrication to make it look cool , but I get the pros and cons of will I get barried in the truck and not get my money out of it later. I also like the look as a short bed, but if I really drop the money in it to make it look custom, then I won't use it for around town to much and will be afraid of getting it all scratched up. Do you have any suggestions

Have you checked out Dennis Carpenters or Bob Drakes.  They have a couple of different sets of running boards, for the 56.
