Its gonna have to be cut to fit your application, there are so many variables, in the end you might not end up with a true 3", could be more or less.
What you're going to need to do is make a template of a stock windshield using fiberglass mat, cloth, and resin. Using your stock windshield, wax it a few times, or you can use toilet bowl sealer as a mold release. It needs to be pretty thick so that it has some strength and so that it duplicates the window pretty good. Then, cut it to fit your new window opening (this is done after the chop is completed of course). After you've got it fitting perfectly in there (you'll want to install the fiberglass template with the rubber to make sure it fits), take it, and a new winshield, to a glass shop, they should be able to cut it for you.
Also, the way a '57 window opening is shaped, be sure that you DO NOT bend the pillars at all, because it will screw up the shape of the opening, and will be impossible to make a cut stock window fit.

Z-Man, That looks like a bigwindow cab! Man those are nearly impossible to cut the rear glass down when the top gets lowered! STOP! and ask a HELL OF A LOT OF QUESTIONS!
Where do you live? If you are no where near a place that specializes in Hot-Rods etc (like S. California) You will be earning yourself a "Big Headache" and a potential disaster!
That job is not for the faint of heart and certainly should be left to the pros. IF and that is A BIG IF You can find someone SKILLED ENOUGH to try it!
My suggestion on big window cabs is to section the back panel to lower the roof, and drop the lower edge of the windshield down into the front cowling.
That way you do not have to cut the glass. BUT THIS ALSO requires a VERY SKILLED body expert!
The other problem that the last post did not mention, is that you cannot cut an "OLD" windshield as they are not laminated like the new ones.
I recommend that when you do this you MUST consider buying both a NEW windshield and BIG Rear Glass that is laminated sfety glass which can be cut and won't crack under the pressure.
I sell new glass for the 55-59's in green clear or smoke. email: son.follower@yahoo.com

Just so you know, that picture is my Avatar...that is MY CAB, not the original posters. I do not plan on chopping it. I HAVE however done a chop before.
Here is a picture of the truck I've chopped:

Just so you know...the original winshields in 55-57 Chevrolet pickups are in fact laminated glass. As are the rear small windows. The BIG rear windows are not laminated as you stated.
I'm sorry that instead of telling the guy he can't do it, I gave him some advice.
