I have decided to convert my '57 Chevy Truck to IFS using the prefabricated crossmember. Does anyone have the part #'s for the GM calipers, rotors, and bearings, etc. This is a budget project and I wanted to purchase these locally at a parts store. Thanks

Mustang II,
I understand the desire to go "low-budget", be be sure the kit you buy is not less than 3/16-inch plate steel or you may be sorry.
The heavy metal is a must, and I personally prefer to use 1/4 inch plate steel for the crossmember and the towers. SAFETY FIRST!
Also have it welded by a professional if you do not have the experience needed. This is not a job for a "novice"
There is a good article in the June 2005 issue of Classic Trucks, and perhaps it is available on thier web site: www.classictrucks.com.
The article is called "First-Time IFS" and is on pages 68-74. The photos are pretty good.
As far as the individual parts, the A-arms and the spindles are the key to the whole front IFS. If you can, get them from the same place you get the crossmember!
The seller of the IFS you are buying should tell you what the parts are that work with his x-member, If he won't tell you, then move on to the next one. Or better yet buy the parts from a reputable party.
Email me, I can help you more if you want.
