hi to all. I have a question that i would like to find out. My dad and i have come into possession of a 1952 Chevy Panel Truck. The truck had been owned by a friend that had the panel top cut off leaving only the windshield and a flat bed to use as a farm truck in the late 50s/early 60s. Since 1966 this truck has been sitting in a barn so it's in fairly good shape with a few dents and dings.
My dad and i have thoughts of restoring this truck and I would like to make it into a regular pickup truck to cruise around in. Is it possible to find a regular 1952 chevy pickup and cut the roof and backside off the cab and weld it onto the panel truck and add the doors? Or are the dimensions that different that it wouldn't work? I've already discussed and searched the possibility of adding and creating a pickup bed, but was wondering on the possibilities of adding a roof and sides onto the cab.
If anyone has any information or could help out it would be greatly appreciated. thanks

If you want a pickup anyway, why do all the cutting and welding? Find a 48-53 doner truck and swap cab and bed over to your frame.

You can purchase the sheetmetal "new" if your heart is set on morphing that old panel (by the way, you didn't mention whether it was a 1/2- or 3/4-ton?). Chevs of the 40s/Dynacorn have every single piece of metal you'd need to turn that thing into a truck! Or, find yourself a donor as previously stated. Either way, it would be a great welding/fabrication exercise! If it were me, I'd just go find a truck to begin with--but I'm getting lazy!

You could give John Budd a call at 1-330-947-2002. I'm pretty sure he's got a few of those old panel bodies, and I know for a fact he's got a ####load of the old trucks that body style. He's reasonable on prices too! Tell him SMURF sent ya.

Sure would be a nice custom hauler for a motorcycle . ( as a panel) Could have a canvas center to stand up in while loading and unloading and you wouldn't be cutting up a nice original. Church
