55 F100 Army Issue

I recently aquired a 55 f100, and found that it was an army issue truck. I have not been able to find any information about this trucks history in the Military, or how many there were. I would also like to know if it would be more valuable to restore it as Original, or do it the way I want. Any information would be good.
