I just pulled a 216 straight six from my 52 chevy pickup and went to put it on the frame of my 52 GMC pickup. What i didnt realize was that the frame from the chevy has the cross members 2 in. closer than on the GMC so the engine doesnt fit is there some way of correcting this so that i can put the motor on the GMC frame without modifying the frame it's self? and does anyone know why the CHEVY frame is different from the GMC frame even though they are the same year?

They are different because the GMC engine is longer.  They are also better engines than the 216.  I'd put a GMC engine in it.
