Well howdy folks,

New to the board here but not new to chevy =).

I joined up because I was recently given a family heirloom which happens to be a 1953 Chevy 3100 advanced design 5 window. This truck was bought new in 1953 by my great grandfather who I never had the chance to meet due to the fact that I was yet to be born hehe, the truck was very well taken care of in his hands. When he passed on, my grandfather -(who I also never got the chance to meet, once again before my time)inherited it,he drove it to work and home and thats it, when he died when my father was 12,the truck went to my uncle, the older brother between my dad and he, well the truck has sat since 1978 in the desert where it has been its entire life from 1953 until march 13'th 2008-today!. The truck has never been rebuilt in any way only things that have been changed are the seats, tires, brakes, and oil all but the seats of coarse was just routine maintenance, no mods were ever done with the acception of the bucket seats that grandpa put in. well the truck has 50k original miles on it and has never been out of California, my uncle knows that if i get it i will restore it with minor mods like oil shocks, new paint a mild V8 with TH700r4 4 speed overdrive automatic transmission.

This is my second advanced design 5 window only my first one was a 49 that needed a lot of attention and still sits in a friends back yard. I should be able to do and oil change, engine flush, new plugs, plug wires and a cap n rotor and it will run like a charm I will put a few miles on the 235 until I pull it and restore it also.

My dad and I are very tight I am very much like he is and we share the same passion for hot rods, and audio gear and pretty much everything. This will be my 3rd running classic car, my first was a rust free perfect body 1968 Mercury cougar, my second  which I still have is a 1974 Dodge Dart swinger with the 318 V8. for the passed three years though has been where all my sweat and blood has gone, I have literally poured my soul into this project, it is a 1972 V8 vega I won't go into details as it would be to long of a thread lol.

Sorry the story was so long!

Glad to be abored!

Thanks,
Shawn.
