I have a 1970 C20 350 with the original 4-Speed w/granny gear. I would like to swap it out with something more friendly to highway speeds. Any suggestions?

I run a Borg Warner T-5 five speed transmission and am very happy with it. I run 3.43 posi out back and this combo is very gas efficient. With a grunt first gear and an overdrive fifth gear, you get the best of all worlds. Mine is from an 88 Trans Am. You will have to modify your drive shaft, but was only about $100. A World Class T-5 will run $800.

It will fit your bell. The shifter may be too far to the rear and interfer with your bench seat. OK with bucket seats. Shops can use a S-10 tail housing. I used it because it was easy to intall and I get an overdrive. It is worth going after it.
