hey I am 16 got a longbed want a shortbed 63'gmc,how hard is it to shorten.thanks for your help
Classic Trucks did an article on this last year. Review the Technical articles to find it.Basically, Z cut the frame, shorten the parking brake cable, drive shaft, brake lines, gas lines, and wiring harness. Dis-assemble the bed (its all bolted together), cut down the bed floor, order new fenders ($550 a piece) re-use bed front and tailgate. They cut their fenders down. I think it is easier to get used ones or new ones than to cut down long ones. Besides you can resell the long ones. This is a job for the experienced mechanic with alot of patience. and money!
68 chop top 327 5 speed Stereo and AC. A real hot rod has a clutch. Anyone can modify it BUT it takes a real man to chop one up. See my truck in Reader's Ride and vote on it!
Easy fix, get a short bed. email@example.com I have some.
Thats a slick quote Tnchev, easy advice and a sales gimic.
If you go to the top and click on TECHNICAL go to page 9 Project Old School. I beleve there is a GMC. It tells just what to do how to cut the frame and all.
