I am working on a 68 Chevy and it currently has 6 lug wheels.  I am going to install disc brakes all the way around and in doing so I can use either 5 or 6 lug patterns.  Is there any reason to stay with the 6 lug pattern?  If I change to 5 lug pattern it opens for a wider range of wheel possibilities.

Thanks

When I swapped to front disc brakes, I chose the 5 lug pattern to get more a choice of wheels. I run the American Racing Torq Thrust II 17x8. I also used the 2 inch drop spindles.
Out back I swapped for a 71 rearend. 12 bolt strength with 5 lug pattern. Everything fits! 3.43 with posi. You can just swap axles.
