I recently purchased a MK VIII. Originally I was going to hot rod it, but after having it side by side with my 56 F100 I decided to take the rear end out of the MK VIII and put it into the 56. I have'nt actually done this yet (although the rear is out of the MK VIII). Has anyone ever done this swap? I know from outside of rotor to outside of rotor is 61 inches, so I will have to widen my fenders. Does anybody have any other pointers I should look for? Thanks for your help.

I'm glad to see there is someone else out there who has given consideration to using some Mk viii parts. I have a 97 LSC that I thought about pulling the motor/trans out for use in a 56 f100. I have given thought to using the rearend also, but have not researched it much. Have you discovered any other issues besides the width yet?

those pictures are great... post more... there is lots of room here..

i can only see on thing i might have done on the upper spring perch...

i might have used  nascar style version with jack screws... so i could fine tune the ride height ... up inside your upper spring perch.. there are a bunch of different ways..

nicely done...

do you think it needs some kind of cross member between the bottom of the frame rails and the forward cradle mounts.. to stop them from spreading and twisting the frame rails outward once you get weight on it..

or did you think about taking some pie cuts to the front bracket arms to move them inward and forward??

I boxed the frame except where the gas tank fits. This will prevent the frame from twisting and is necessary due to installing the Mark VII IRS and the Jag IFS.  I also added a cross member to the rear of the IRS forward of the gas tank.
