I am hot rodding a 1947 KB2 and have chosen to install at Total Cost IFS, so cannot help you with the GM part, but would like to communicate with you about other parts of the project as my project goes forward. My front frame width is 28-1/2 inches and yours should be about the same.
I have been advised to move the front axel centerline forward of the original position and I have tack welded my front end into that position and prefer it about 1 to 1-1/2 inches forward.
Have you chosen tire and rim sizes yet for your front and back?
Wrote to me direct if you wish at wenkeith@hotmai.com.

I think that is the same width as my 63 chev. if that is the case you should be able to bolt a 63-87 chev crossmember in it. Maybe it would be to wide?
