I have a 67 C10 that i bought about 13 years ago.  It was my daily drive thru high school and college but has since been decomissioned.  I finally have some $$$ to put into it and have some ideas that i need clarified.  One day in front of an Advanced Auto 1-2 years ago i saw a 71 C10 that was on a 80-something SS Monte Carlo Chassis.  This gave it front disc brakes, a positraction rear end, rear leaf springs, and a lot better handling truck.  Does anyone have any info about a chassis swap like this???

Yeah, it's a lot of work, and not something for a novice to try at home. I don't remember 80's model GM anything except Camaros and firebirds having leaf springs, in the rear. The owner of the truck you're talking about, if he was the builder, may have set it up that way.

Smurf1 is right, 80's GM sedans generally have coils in the rear... Also the wheelbase on an early 80's Monte is way short at only 108 inches, a short bed C10 wheelbase is 115 inches. I am not about to say its impossible, but lengthening the wheelbase 7 inches and having the truck drive straight and safe is not a job for someone without a lot of frame experience.

You can get front discs and leafs with a 1970-1972 GMC frame, which will be a direct bolt on. But I am also looking for car-like handling. I am thinking maybe trying a swap onto a late 80's caprice police cruiser frame. Anyone out there try this yet, or see obvious obstacles?
