Are the original gas gauges (converted to 12 volts)
0 - 90 ohms?

If its GM yes 0-90 ohms. 12 volts to gauge from gauge to sender 0-90 ohms resistance to ground.

Yes, it is a 53 Chevy gauge reworked by Jim Carter

I now have to find a 0-90 ohm sender that will fit in a gas tank 7 3/8" high (tank has been moved from cab to under bed)

One of the other post on this website a guy gives info about a company that specializes in everything to do with fuel tanks. take a look it might help.
