Can anyone tell me if there is a power steering unit that will work on 65 chevy truck? Maybe from a later year? I would rather not go thew high dollar route.
Thanks, Jack

I am trying to figure out the same thing. My truck is a 65 k10 and I just realized that my manual steering box is cracked in four places. I would like to upgrade to power steering but can't find any information. Have you had any luck? I am thinking about going to the local salvage yard for an old saginaw power steering gear just to see if I can make it fit by myself. I am assuming they don't sell a conversion kit for our trucks because it is not a direct bolt in deal.

73-87 will fit but you need to dimple the frame like the one you take out of. Or you can buy the adaptor kit from Brothers, CPP,or Early Classic Enterprises

All you need is a $50 adapter-plate and one off an 83 to 89 will work. Please dont quote me on that but I'm almost positive i've seen the plate in lmc. The blueprint is available to for printing im sure.

Hey fellas! You're in luck. REZ Engineering sells an adapter plate kit that makes it a piece of cake to put power steering in your trucks. Then all you need is a gearbox, pump w/brackets, and hoses to match box&pump be it the O-ring style, or the flare type. Good Luck guys, been there done it and was well satisfied.

Thanks for the recommendation, never heard of REZ Engineering. The bracket looks just like all the other out on the market. My main problem is that the K10 (4X4) pitman arm rotates through a vertical plane while the saginaw power steering boxes have a horizontal pitman arm, this is why the conversion kits say that you can't use them with a k10. I know that all 4x4 from 1969+ have an open knuckle axle with different linkage than my closed knuckle d44. I might go to a salvage yard tomorrow to get a steering box and possibly an entire front axle with disk brakes. I know the newer axle would have the correct linkage and would bolt up to my leafs. This would be a huge upgrade for my truck which currently has manual steering, brakes, and tranny.

Yo AZ65k10chevy! I forgot about the k10's being different in the pitman swing pattern. The info that I was referring to is for the C10's. Sorry to get your hopes up only to drop them.

I checked out the REZ engineering layout....I thought they did a great job explaining the change. Sure I will give it a try soon.

Ok so I picked up a saginaw power steering box and front axle with all the linkage. However, it is a corporate 10 bolt not a Dana 44 like I wanted. Does anyone know if the ring gears can be swapped in those to axles? From what I understand the corp10 is a clone of the D44 so I hoping they can be interchanged. Also wondering if the corp10 is worth keeping? I might consider trying again for a Dana if need be.
