Question about a 69 C10 custom

I found a 69 C10 custom pickup it is a manual transmission but the way you shift it is from the steering column I always thought that there was a stick that came through the floor boards you shift with, so I looked at the floor boards and it looks like there was no welding or cover up work done to hide the fact if there was an acual stick. is this normal for this truck?

This is normal on these trucks, I believe Chevy used it all the way to 1979 or something. It is called "3 on the tree". They do sell conversion kits to put it on the floor, or you could always swap in a 4 or 5 speed.

You're absolutely right MRGunkel. As far as the suggestion to go with a 4 or 5 speed, right again. That's what I'd do also. Life's too short to be stuck with only 3 speeds.

If you want better results for your spark plug question Tualco then I would make a new forum thread.

Find compresion stroke TAKE #1 plug out, finger over hole, feal presure. Bring #1 to top dead center. Do this with a screwdriver or such, and line the timing marks. Werever the rotor lines up on the cap is #1. It can be any one as long as the fireing order is corect. Need the corect rotation hit the starter watch witch way it turns.
