Hi,

Ive got a 63 with a small back window and just found a donor 63 with a big back window. Are there any recourses on swapping these out? I know I need the inner rear panel switched and I did see one where the cut the roof rear off and re welded it but thats is to much work. looks to me like you can take this inner section out and stuck it in the other truck, cut the window hole and your done.

Go to the top and click on TECHNICAL and scroll down and find page 9> Interduction Project Old School. Tells just how to do it. It is also a 63. Fallow the hole story about 10 parts or so.

Hi, I saw that article but since I have a donor cab with the inside sheet metal I was hoping to just replace that

I don't see why you can't. I would think you could cut the doner were it flat then trace around it to cut the inside of the cab. I have two 63'S and two doner windows. I was thinking of cuting through the center of the roof and making one about 6 inches longer cut thorugh the center of the doors lengthen the frame. The top would look choped more legroom. One will be a driver until I get the other fixed up,and one will with just a big window and other will fixed and langthen.

Bob, if I remember correctly the inner and outer are spot welded together all the way around the window channel. So you would have to drill the spot welds out, and just plug weld the holes to the outer once you have it in the new truck. Other than that your plan will work.
