I was really interested in this article, until paragraph 4.  Tell me all about you "vintage" 396 block, with the aftermarket stroker crank, I-beam rods, aluminum heads, and blah blah blah.  What? No sponsorship from Holley for a 4-bbl injection setup?  Where's the NOS? Who forgot to install the B&M street blower?

Admitedly, a .030 over 396, with a forged crank, stock type rods, iron heads, and an "rv" cam would probably be a pretty boring read.  I though the whole point was to find out: "could a 396 hold its own in today's world?" My mistake.  I guess the point was: "could a 396 be made into a modern aftermarket stroker motor?"
