Need some input on my first truck purchase.  Been admiring older Fords from a distance for quite some time.  Found a 2nd owner '71 F100 heavy half (sport I believe since it has the sliding rear window) with 107k miles.  Only rust on truck is a dime size spot on the fender.  All original chrome with a new paint job about 6 years ago.
Not looking for a show truck at this point just something that will put a smile on my face and turn some heads when I pull into the hardware store.  Owner's asking $2900 which seems reasonable to a rookie.  
Could anyone out there give me some input?  Thanks  

Check out NADA.com. They have a section for classic vehicles. I just bought a '78 F-250 with a 460. NADA book value was $1,900, I got it for $1,100. NADA helped me get a good idea on the value.
