I have a 64 chevy fleetside. Passenger brake light is not working. The other side is fine. The blinkers work fine for both sides & the running lights. But the brake light will not. Traced wire harness all the way to the firewall cnnector. From there t where it goes up under dash. Its not showing 12 volts at harness for that side either. From what I can figure out from my shop manual books it has to be the signal switch on the column that is my problem? Just seeing if anyone else had this problem or aggrees with me thats the problem? Thanks for anyones input!

Sounds like a dumb response but is the brake bulb burned out?

If the bulb was out, the turn signal wouldn't work.

Svetter, sounds like you are right about the signal switch.

You are very welcome.
FYI, I found a signal switch for my '62 on Evilbay, for $20.

I thought the turn signal and brake light were on two different bulbs.

Mike, your being driving the Honda too much. Its only the crazy Aussies who use separate bulbs. Imagine how many bulbs the Americans save on using 1 bulb. Geez just think of it, all that extra money saved, you'd think the gas prices would be better.
Anyway the brake switch is powered up by the fuse box and the other side of the switch goes to the turn signal mechanism and then feed out through the turn signal wires. So there is a good chance the mechanism is faulty or maybe dirty, causing a bad connection.
Now for the AUSSIES, snip the wire from the brake switch to the column and re-route it to the new ORANGE turn signal light.   YOUR WELCOME.
Or use one from a Honda, there are plenty of them in the wrecking yards back there. Actually they use them for shopping carts.   Just kidding Mike
