Does the front end on this 47 look right?

Hello
This is my first post and likely one of many as I am about to purchase a 1947 Chevrolet 3100 for restoration.  I need some advice...My question is, does the front end on this truck look stout?  I have been looking at other truck pic's and it doesn't look right for some reason.  Am I missing something here?

Sorry for the oversized pic's.

It looks pretty sound to me. Obviously it's been dissasembled to replace or restore the fenders and I'd suspect it needs some bolts an the upper grill bar tweeked. My '48 and '50 both have turn signals installed between the upper and second grill bar.

The doors appear to hang pretty straight. It still has the original painted pin stripe.. cool.  The cab also appears aligned. Look close at the height relative to the 3 cab mounts, often it will sag at the rear mount.

I wouldnt write it off due to the old grill.   Replacement grills are readily available and I would do this rather than spend too much time straightening and re-chrome.

Are the fenders original though?   Here my preference is original thickness.

Looks like a good starter.. how much?

I am not 100% certain that the fenders are original just that they have been sanded etc.  the tail gate is done as well.  No rust in the floor to speak of and lots of 'new' parts come with it.  Another tailgate, emblems, door handles, window handles, mirrors.

The motor is going to be replaced and I have a Mustang ll front end ready to go.  Would like to do an air ride and go from there.

I found that the hood seemed like it did not extend as far out on the nose to others I have seen on the net.  Others I am seeing the hood extends passed the fender well but this one appears that it doesn't.  Perhaps it's just the camera angle?

Think I will do like you suggested and look for a chrome grill.  Will also need a front bumper.

Truck looks about right when I look at mine from the side.  I have the original 16" rims on mine and that changes everything as to how the look comes across.  Looks like you have 15" blazer rims and car tires on those rims.

Really the only trucks that have something wrong with the fronts would be those "Old Navy Store" trucks.  I've seen a few of those chassis's and they were all cut up for weight. They also had small caster wheels welded on them so they could be pushed around the stores.  Glad I held onto my old chassis in case I can ever get my hands on one of those trucks.

There is a shop in Florida that recently had two Old Navey trucks. The shop is called "American Auto Body Shop" and the phone numbers are 386-364-1479 / 386-209-1901. I do not know if he still has them but it is worth making a phone  call to find out. Good Luck.

3600 or so Old Navy Stores and most had one of those trucks in them.  I've seen 16 up here in NY so far and all had decent bodies and shot chassis due to being cut up.  I currently have four chassis and two S-10 long bed chassis so one of these days someone will get tired of working on thier Old Navy truck and I'll be there for them.
Florida is a little too long of a drive unless they will part with one of them very cheaply.
What gets me is they think they are worth a couple of grand for them.  I'll wait till they realize how much it'll cost to fix them.

Hi, this truck pictured is not a 1947, in 47' the gas tank was not in the cab, it was between the rails. The gas filler tube was on the passenger side of the bed in front of the rear tire.
