For those that have done their own priming, is this too much for a novice?

Can I use a rattle can for the frame?  Or should I invest in a sprayer...  I have access to a full size compressor so the ppsi would not be a problem.  Since I would like to prime the entire body to save costs.

What about the primer type? ie. epoxy.

I have no idea what paint will eventually make it on the truck so how do I know what type of primer I should go with?

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I am not by any means a body/paint person but I would say that if you plan to paint down the road, I would talk to the body shop you would like to use and ask them. This will allow you to best match the primer and filler products to the painter for whom you will be using.
