this is common with alot of the aftermarket seals.  believe it or not the seal will give if you slam it shut and leave it for a day or so.  there are softer seals available that will help.  i got mine from someone who had "been there, done that"  and can't recall the name of the place...but it is located in wilson, nc.  i can get the number for you if you're interested in a new set.

My 53 wont shut with seals either.  After measuring the opening I found that the door opening is 1/2 inch narrower at the bottom than on any of my other trucks.  I've looked and looked and can't see any signs of damage to the cab, but that 1/2 inch will not allow the door to shut when seals are on them.  my guess is somewhere along the way the cab was damaged and repaired (but badly measured) and being a former TX truck they didn't need seals.
take a measurement of the door opening top and bottom, both sides.  i'm not positive but i think the opening at the bottom should be 36 inches (memory fading)

CAN'T REMEMBER WHERE I SAW IT, MAYBE ON TV SHOW. THE PRO'S PUT A RACHET STRAP ACROSS FROM DOOR TO DOOR INSIDE FOR 24HRS TO PULL THEM COMPLETELY SHUT AND ALLOW DOOR SEALS TO FULLY COMPRESS.MAYBE IT WILL WORK FOR YOU.

This is very common and I have had to deal with it also. The fact is that:
1) New seals will have to be broken in over time
2) The factory fit on these trucks was anything but good/consistant

I was just at the Hershey show and talking to a guy that had his truck in the show as a restoration. He had the same problem. Also, his doors didnt even line up well. I asked him about it and he told me that they were like that when he got the truck. If he fixed the fit of the doors, it would not be orginal!

I bought my door seals from LMC and they work perfectly, good quality too. I also bought the window seals from LMC and the quality was ok.
