as the topic says, I'm beginning restoration on a 54' 3100 chevy and I know i have some wires cut and bad, would like to find a diagram to give me a better idea of where to start running new wires.

thanks for your help!

My 53 was converted to 12 volt and wired it the same way as the 6 volt. Wired the light switch just like the manual showed.  Just changed out the light bulbs, gas guage, etc. (Ok, forgot the gas guage and blew it out in about two weeks LOL) Did install a ceramic resistor from a Dodge on the coil wire for run but used straight 12 volts for the start circuit.  Been five years and only problem is the generator regulator needed to be adjusted to put out 13 volts (easy).  Other way is on my rat which has a 12 to 6 reducer which runs most of the 6 volt stuff and 12 volts for starting and lights.  Reducer is a small box that I think you can get from NAPA

P.S.  Also ran a separate line to a small fuse box for options like a 12" push fan, radio, power wipers

No telling which method the previous owner used to wire your truck, sounds like a patch job fire waiting to happen.    My first call would be to the guys at Jim Carter's truck parts and buy a shop manual.

The routing was actually quite simple and I prefer routing full replacement wire bundles to match original look and then do the step down 12 to 6V method for the dash.

good luck
