newbie- 1958 4x4, 4l60E and transfer case swap

I am helping my dad with his 1958 Chevrolet 4x4 pick-up (I have a 67 C-10). We are looking at doing a engine/trans/tranfercase swap. I am somewhat up to speed on the wiring harness swap for controlling the engine and trans. 5.3L/4L60E. We have  a donor 2004 engine/transmission. I am looking for advice, opinions on what type and year of transfer case to use with this. I was leaning toward the 3 button transfer case (2wd, 4wd high, and 4wd low). But am totally in need of help and advice as to whether this is the best option, and what year is preferable. Current donor vehicle has had transfer case taken out, so I am not tied to that style.
