First off...introducing myself to the community. My names Tyler...I live in Las Vegas, NV. I ride both quads and streetbikes. However, I just picked up this truck for a fun project to mess around with.

Anyway, I picked up the truck real cheap. It's an 82 Power Ram 250. It's got the 318 in it and it's running an edelbrock 4 bbl carb. Other than that, I was told the rest of the truck is all stock. I was also told the truck only has 82k original miles on it which the odometer reads as well.

I came on here to ask for some advice on tuning this carb. I found a couple helpful websites but I still just can't seem to get it right. Basically what happens is the truck will run great with no bogging or nothing up until about 45-50 mph. After that it starts to bog down and eventually gets to where it won't even move and barely stays running. However, on one occasion I had the carb tuned out to what I thought to be great. I drove for about 10 miles going well over 50mph and had no issues. Then when I brought it home and let it sit for the night, it wouldn't start back up without spraying some carb cleaner in.

My question is...would just the tuning of the carb cause this issue? Or is it possible that I have another underlying issue that I'm not aware of? I don't know if I need to get it to shop and have it professionally tuned or what. I was told they use 02 sensors and vacuum lines to get it dialed in just right. As I said though, I'm new to this whole classic truck thing (if you can even call it classic haha). I just want to figure out what I need to do to be able to drive this without the fear of bogging. I appreciate the help.

Why don't you go to Edelbrock's web site and see if they have a support line you can call for help ? If anyone should know the ins and outs of that carburetor , they should ! Keep us updated and good luck !
