I've got a 55 Ford panel with the original inline 6 & 4 speed manual.  I completely redid the body and drive it all the time as a service truck for my inspection buisness.  Really, it's not just a hobby... The engine is pretty worn out, mostly from all the sitting around before I rescued it.  I am considering putting in a 302 & automatic tranns. I have no idea what rear end to put in...
I would love to hear from anyone who's been down this road and has any suggestions about a new powerplant/drive train for my panel.

Please...

The 302 is a nice motor, good to see someone keep a Ford motor in a Ford. It shouldn't be too hard other than changing your mount positions. As for the rearend, the narrow disc brake 9" out of the Lincoln Visalle ( not sure whether the spelling is right), they use them for the early Mustangs. Problem is they are hard to find since every man and his dog wants one.
Make sure you get all the accessaries with the motor and trans, eg, the drive shaft, you will be surprised what you need when you do the swap

What I "really" want to do is just buy an operable car that I can take everything from I need.  motor, drive train, rear end, heck disk brake front end, wiring harness, the lot.

I just have to figure out what that car would be???

HELP?
