I am trying to install a custom steering wheel. We ahve changed out the shifter to the floor so this is a custom steering column. There is a white plastic knob that seems to be hindering me being able to push the wheel on. Can I force it?

You mentioned having a new custom steering column , did it come with instructions ? If so , I'd read it carefully to see what the white knob's purpose is ? I wouldn't force it till I knew the purpose of the white plastic knob .

I have a 64 fleetside and installed a custom steering wheel. Had spacer kit and everything. Didn't seem like it fit right but worked. after a couple of days was driving it then all of a sudden the horn was going crazy and alot of play. Put stock steering wheel back on. Also messed up my turn switch in column. From what I read and asked everyone only way to install custom steering wheel is to change out to custom steering column like was mentioned above. Too costly for me. The plastic piece sounds like part of the turn switch, wouldnt force it? Good luck!

is it a knob sticking up or is it the sleeve that protects the horn wire? steering wheels come with instructions...at least the grants i've used did...even if the wheel came from a buddy, the adapter should have some instructions...if that also came from a buddy, ask the buddy how he did it
