Anybody have trouble lining up a hood on a 48-53 3100? I am having a hard time where the hood meets the cowl. My hinges are not worn and do not appear to have been bent.

Do any of the holes or hood support looked stressed?

There is adjustability in your hinges, where they bolt to the side of the cowl. Give that a try.

good luck.....most of these trucks do not fit well with the hood. You can do some body work to compensate or in thei area you can do a few other things. Either dont use the springs and use a prop or you struts that will strtech 21" but no more then 19" when colapsed. In either case you do not have a hinge pushing up at the rear. The hood struts will mount off of a fender bolt and when closed they are horizontal not vertical. I have a picture some place showing this.

Thanks! I also found the cab bolted directly to the frame causing the body lines to be off!

A little late but I just joined. If your hood line does not match the cowl line, it is probably an inconsistant cowl line. Take your hood hinges off and try and match the hood to the cowl. This takes the variables out. space under the rear of the hood-cowl with something that will raise the hood to the level of the cowl evenly all the way. Center the hood with the "widows peak" of the cowl. If yours is like mine, the two do not match. My cowl line just did not match the hood, but the hood was consitant from right to left side. The only way to "fix" it is to cut the hood back to match the cowl. If done right, you will never know it was done. I guess the other option would be to try and massage the cowl somehow, but I dont know of a good way to do it. Every body line to body part line on my truck did not line up well. This is just due to the fact that these things were built as trucks! Remember, they are not Packards or Dusenbergs!!! Hope this helps
