For my 56, I picked up a CCP conversion, and found a Saginaw from a 71 pickup. It gets welded onto the outer frame. I dropped my straight axle 3". The tuffest part is the power steering pump install. No one sells a straight 6 conversion bracket set, so I made my own. Worked out well. If you have a 283/327/350 then it is a breeze. Brackets available galore. Email me and I'll send some pics. lorrob@cox.net

Hi Rob,

just bought a 1966 C10 Chevy and think of adding power Steering, only thing is i am a novice...would you share your experience, findings? Would be a great help.
Where can i find the parts, what parts are the best for my truck, budget?...

What's your opinion on just having a new steering box, Idle arm,pitman...installed? Would it really improved the steering?

I have a 305 cu in 5L, heard it's very similar to the 350??

Cheers!
Anthony
