Hi there,

I am restoring a 1954 Chevy truck.  I bought a new battery and hooked it up to the cables.  Everything seems to be hooked up right, but when I try to turn over the truck nothing happens...but the negative battery cable gets really hot.

I am a novice, first time touching the engine.  Looking for any help I can get.

Thanks,

Carlos

electrical resistence is what causes hot wires
are both ends of the each battery cable clean and tight
is the solenoid or starter motor locked up

Most time its the cable that runs to the starter that would get hot if the starter is stuck..make sure they didnt sell you a F battery with the poles reversed... please check the polarity with a voltmeter
