Saw this C-750 Big Job Car Transporter at the weekend at the Nostalgia Nationals drag racing event (in the UK), but couldn't find the owner to ask about it. Amazing vehicle, but doesn't seem to be much on C-Series on the web. Any of you guys able to tell me the year (or anything else about it)?

(More pics at http://autopendium.com/modtypes/1588-Ford-C-Series if it helps)
Cheers ctagg

Hi ctagg. Try google searching "1956 Cab over engine" or "Classic COE" you should at least get a whole lot more pictures and info. It seems that most of the major manufacturers produced a cab over engine version of their truck models from the late 1930's onward and they've been set up in just about every configuration that you could think of (cab/chass tractor units though flat bed grain trucks, tippers, water tankers & concrete mixers. In more recent years us truck nuts seem to have taken a penchant to hot rodding them (damn fine idea it is too). I've just finished a putting a 1948 Ford COE onto a short wheel base chassis with a 2.4m pickup tray behind the cab. I'm in NZ so had to import a bare cab from the States. Classic trucks have an article on a very cool 1956 Ford C750 COE Truck - Big Job. If I wasn't so technologically illiterate I'd have been able to attach a link directly to it. Sorry, search Classic Trucks site for "1956 Ford C750 COE Truck - Big Job" its worth it. Cheers

Hi dodgy56
Thanks for the info. Now hot-rodding one of these -- that's something I'd pay to see. Found the article. For future ref it's at http://www.classictrucks.com/features/0201clt_1956_ford_c750_coe_truck/index.html
By there way, I keep hearing about really interesting vehicles in NZ -- must get over there one of these times

Hi The truck you photographed is hot rodded to some extent - looks like the original cab, fenders etc have been mounted onto a later model truck chassis with the transporter deck on it. Here's the link to a photo of my 1948 Bonus built cab over at this years Beach hop in Whangamata. This was the first outing for the truck and as it is only the second cab-over truck on road in NZ it got quite a lot of attention. http://photos.frontrow.co.nz/displayimage.php?album=123&pos=158
And to further wet your appetite for a trip down under one summer these are a few of the larger events... www.beachhop.co.nz or masses of photos from the event on www.thehop.co.nz www.kumeuhotrodshow.co.nz www.americarna.com
