SCOUT 2 BODY SWAP

I've owned 3 IH Scouts in my life and they've been a lot of fun.  It has always been my dream to have an old Scout 2 body on top of a modern late model chassis.  I'm looking for the right donor truck for the swap.  I've tried looking for what the most important feature is in a door truck and it seems that wheelbase is it. The problem is a regular Scout 2 has a 100 inch wheel base,  56 inch track and  70 width.

Poplular Mechanics did this project with what was called a Durangoneer.  A 2006 Dodge Durango with a 5.7 l Hemi with a 1988 Jeep Wagoneer body.

Well that's what I'd like to do but with a Scout.

My budget in $35K which would include a wrecked or rolled salvage donor truck. (About $10K).  A clean Scout 2 Body no rust. (I live in California so they are around) $3K.

That leaves with me with around $20-$22K for the rest.

Anyone have any ideas on which donor truck would be the best candidate?
Thanks for reading

The "  Extreme 4x4 " show , on the Spike Channel , recently did a project involving an early Scout . They didn't do a frame swap but rather upgraded the existing frame , axles , and replaced the original engine with another International engine ( V8 ) from a later and larger model truck . You might go to www.powerblocktv.com and find the videos concerning the modifications and the end results !
