Can anyone tell me EXACTLY what I need to install power steering in a 63 GMC? What do a get a steering gear box out of that will work the best and be the easiest to mount? I would also like comment on the need for a booster without disc brakes?

i did this on my 67 c-20 years ago

use the brackets that are correct for your motor to hang the pump
use the steering box that is correct for your frame/year...later years may also work, your friendly parts man should do cross reference checks if necessary
use the hoses for your model year (if p/s was not available on that model, use hoses that are applicable to the earliest year truck that had p/s) or that match the steering box (year)

fortunately i had all the parts on hand...well i had to buy the correct steering box...use p/s pump from a 75 monte carlo...brackets from the car worked on the truck because they were both small blocks with long water pumps...used hoses that were for the truck application...worked like a charm...MUCH easier to drive

truck boxes mount outside the frame while car boxes mount inside the frame...the mounting tabs are on opposite sides...this is really an easy conversion..don't let it frustrate you

you don't need a booster with drum brakes
