I have a 1951 F1 that runs and is still a positive ground 6v system. The truck needs to be rewired also. Electrical is my weakness. I have heard to use a GM alternator and that the starter should work. What about the coil and distributor. Do all the electrical components need to be replaced? Any suggestions on the most user friendly harness/fuse block? I want to make sure I do it right while I got it all apart. The truck has the original flathead.

You can do it several ways, the easy way is always best. Buy a kit from a supplier like Painless and change everything over to 12 v .. you can change your generator over to 12v or change to an alternator. If you keep original gauges then you will have to use a voltage reducer or upgrade them.. I am running a Flathead six in a '50
it still has the 6 volt but I have a 8 volt battery. Dude
