Any suggestions on keeping header heat off of the starter? i put a heat shield blanket over the starter but even so, after a long drive I try starting it again, and it feels as if the battery was almost dead.

TRY WRAPING THE HEADERS. ELIMINATES A LOT OF EXHAUST HEAT. BUT REMEMBER, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

Your probably going to bang your head against the wall many times. You will probably have to go to one of those small high thorque starters. It will give you more room. Believe me I have had my share of embarrassing starter problems. You know the good old screwdriver under the hood infront of the 7 eleven sydrome.

use a ford starter solenoid worked for my tricked vette 89 google it cost about 15 buck total and is easy as replacing an air filter. works great in 100 + sacramento weather. starter blanket was a waste of $30 for me save money and live better.
