I recommend you check out Brothers Trucks or LMC Trucks. They both offer a wide selection of tailgates for'71 Chevys

I have an N.O.S. tailgate. If you do not intend to use the truck, or open and shut the gate, the aftermarket junk is fine. A real one is the best; tnchev@yahoo.com or 865-654-2992

Wow tnchev no love for the aftermarket guy. I've seen some aftermarket tailgates work just as well as an original.

Not trying to offend anyone. If it was not for the aftermarket, alot of trucks would not be on the road today. But, I think good metal, is better metal. Simple test, try and pick up and throw a real tailgate as far as you can throw an aftermarket piece.

I agree the original parts and sheetmetal they use back in the day are much better than the aftermarket stuff out now. Look at any new car out there, everything is made from cheap plastic. No quality anymore.
