Hello, I have a 1951 ford pickup.I need a plug for the steering box.The plug hole is 7/8s of an inch and is 16 threads per inch.Does any one have one for sale?Or maybe a place where I can buy one?Local parts houses cannot help me.Thanks Rick junkyard10@verizon.net

Sounds like it's pretty close to a 1/2" pipe thread. Have you tried one of those yet? If that's too small, then try one of threaded plugs that goes in the end of an old ball-socket type tie rod end. One or the other oughta fit! Good Luck

Hello Guys, I called LMC TRUCKS.They showed the steering box on page 76,since the plug was in the picture it was not highlighted,so they do not have the plug.Yes we have tried the pipe thread and it wont go in because the threads are too course and I did want to force it in.Will check out the ball socket plug today. Will go thru the parts and see what I have.I sent an email to JEGS and they dont have the plug either. The fellow was very helpful and gave me a phone number for STEER and GEAR,614 231 4064.will call them on monday. If that dont pan out I will try a machine shop next and see if they can make me one. Thanks for the ideas.Rick
