I have a 72 chevy and I just converted to 134 freon. Does any one know how many lbs. of freon it takes. Right now I have 3 1/2 lbs. Is this correct? It is sweating good but it seems like it should be colder.

Thanks in advance

not familair with what system the 72 runs but if is like the newer cheys it is a orfice tube design and you may have to change the orfice to a green tube ,that will make it ice cold and if it holds 3.5 lbs of r-12 you only want to put in 3.lbs of r-134a with about 6 oz. of ester oil, and 80% of the mineral oil should be removed from the old system or it will pool and not cool good.If it uses a exp. valve system install one made for r-134a. good luck it will never be as good as r-12 at idle but should work great on the road.
