'65 F100 Timing chain slipped a tooth?

It appears that the timing chain may have skipped a tooth on my F100. When I align the timing mark with the 10 for 10 degrees BTDC the number 1 piston is already topped out. What do you guys think?

How many miles on engine? If there is alot , then go ahead and change timing chain. The cost of a timing chain is not bad. Mostly labor ...Dude

What has changed with your engine? If it runs about the same I don’t think your timing chain has slipped. A timing chain that is a tooth off would really make a difference in power, in drivability, in starting, gas mileage etc. 10* timing is really hard to measure without a cam degree wheel. I don’t think there is any reliable way to check the cam timing without a degree wheel. There is plenty of piston dwell at TDC. It’s hard to find TDC by eye even with the head off. The only way to do it is to use a degree wheel. So unless your engine has changed a great deal in the way it runs, don’t worry about it. Enjoy the ride instead HB
