Hello Lads! I'm a proud owner of a (rare as they say) Ford F250 Long Bed, all original & unmolested. It was given to me by my "NEW" ....& I stress 'NEW'-WIFE" as a 32nd Birthday present! I was very excited about this find because apparently my wife "secretly" was on the hunt for this specific truck. My In-Laws & her have been searching over 1 year to find a truck with no cancer spots, rust free / soild frame & a runner. All was there but Unfortunately it wasn't a runner but she managed to pay a couple of grand to get the BEAST running again. Coming from a family of "wrench-heads", My wife was in tears when she saw how happy i was to receive my present & so was I!
I named Her "Gertrude" but her license plate is 2NDCHNZ for "2nd Chance". I chose that plate because my stuck up, ignorant, self-centered *** of an ex-wife, sold my fully restored:
• 1969 Dodge Dart GTS • Granny Shift, Fully built 360 Stroker • Triple Plated "Show" Chromed all around • $5K Canary Yellow Paint Job Used on (Corevettes) • $4K Fully Restored "Leather" Interior • White walls & All Original signia • Appraised by AAA For $22K
I was the "2nd" owner of this GTS which i had bought this car from an elderly neighbor of mine who has known me all her life & the GTS was her husband's car which they had purchased from Glendale Dodge in 1969 for $800 Cash. He had passed in the late 90's & she later in 2006. Sadly, She never got to see the finished result & it was 80% done when she passed. I promised her i would keep this car for the rest of my life & so she was very happy to see the car was in good hands knowing she left it with someone she has known waaay before he was born (me).
**one year later in 2007, My *** of an ex-wife sold the entire car for $2k!!!! Without me knowing!! She knew i drew alot of attention to that car & she wanted to ditch this car ASAP...So she did...& i ditched her ass.
So in 2008, I remarried a woman who comes from a family of grease monkeys! My father-in-law & all 3 of my brother-in-laws all share the same passion....the passion for the 50's & the 60's automobiles & trucks!!
Anyway....My dilemma is this: I know the motor is a 3 speed "Ford-O-Matic"...& it's a Y-Block...but i don't know if its a 272, 292 or 312 Y-Blocks? How can i identify this? Any help will do fellas! Cheers!
? 1954 Ford F250 (Long Bed) ? Original 292 Motor, 3 on the Tree: Ford-o-Matic ? Primered Black & all Original ? Shaved rear section ? Completely stock & on the hunt for parts ? Saved from the 2nd owner who gave up on her & now she's mine!

I used to have a '56 F-100 with the Y-block. I bought it from a club member and he told me it had a 292. According to all my info it was supposed to have a 272. So I found a website that has all of the casting numbers listed . There is a casting number on the pass side of the block . Unfortunately I do not have that website anymore. But you should be able find a Y-block site... 1954 was the first year for overhead valve V-8 in the small pickups .. It was a 239cu. 130 HP http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p281/tailgaterdude/007-3.jpg[/IMG]] Dude PS It ended have a 272 with 312 heads

I found the page I had printed on the serial numbers the Y - block casting. CEBY 256-272 cu in Canada for Export
CECK 292 cu Canada for export
EAA 215 I-6 '52-54
EAD 317 cu '52 54 early Lincoln
EAL 279 cu '54 HD truck
EAM 317 cu '54 HD truck
EBJ 341 cu '55 Lincoln
ECU 368 cu '56/57 Early Lincoln
EBU 239 cu '54 cars
EBV 239 cu '55 pickup
It goes on for one page www.ford-y-block.com It does not mention '54 lt truck . I am thinking that the EBV '55 should be '54
