My 52 has the original fuel tank in it. I am planning on replacing it with an under bed mount tank. My question is this, is there a way to clean clean out the old tank so I can get the truck on the road until I'm ready to do the engine swap? I would like to keep the cost down so I can spend it on the new tank. Any suggestions?

Know anybody with a hot water pressure washer?  Remove the tank. Crank up the heat. Insert the nozzle, and tie back the trigger.  Forget about it for 15-20 minutes.  Drain thoroughly, and blow out as much as possible.

That will clean it as good as anything, and it will show you any potential leaks.
