Aircraft stripper will take that paint right off. It will also take any protective coating too, so make sure you put a protective coat on. Are you going to paint the steel or chrome it?

I'm really new at this,we don't have it in the budget right now,so chroming is out for now. We(my wife & I)just want to remove the paint off the bumpers, grille and outside window trims, and polish the stainless is that possible? To keep these parts looking clean? What kind of protective coat is recommended? Thanks again!

Checked out Google and found Boeshield T-9. Says it a lubricant that coats and protects.
Has anyone used this before and if so did it work?

we are thinking of using "mar-hyde tal-strip 3713 aircraft coating remover" on the body, what of por-15 for the battery compartment? Is it OK to use this also on the floorboard as well? What brand of self-etching primer is best compatible to the paint remover? What are thoughts on spray on chrome? THANKS

I wouldn't touch spray on chrome. I've never used it but I doubt it will provide the same protection that a chroming plant will deliver. A plant dips its 3 times, 1 time in nickel, 1 time in copper and the last time in chrome which gives a maximum protection. I don't think a can would be able to do that.

Thanks again for the thoughts on the chrome in a can.We will most likely paint our grille until we can save for a chrome one or a dip

spray on chrome doesn't even look like raw aluminum! I like DP40 two part catalist primer. remember. if it's deadly, it's GOOD. Chrome HVAC tape makes a good fake out for some chrome and S.S. bits, as a temporary fix. carefully applied and rubbed in to the shape, sorta like gold leaf, it might even do a '51 grille...if the tapes wide enuff..

Chroming should not be that much. A 20" wheels goes for 50-75 dollars depending on the chrome shop. Just scout around and if you go to there plant look for some samples. If you see lots of pits or blisters on there stuff run like hell.

Also when you do chrome stuff stay away from that chrome cleaner stuff. The acid in it eats away at chrome causing fading and the copper to show though and may even cause blisters. The best way to clean anything chrome is light car soap and water.
