I have come as close to my dream truck as I am ever gonna get. My dream truck is any chevy truck from 47 to 53. Well I bought a 55 first series 5 wondow truck and figure that will have to do. I am not a big fan of the grill on the 54-55. and i was wondering if the front fenders off of the 50-53 trucks will fit with little or no modification. The only things that are different on the cab that I can see are the windshields, but I dont have anything but internet and magazine pictures to go by. does anyone know if these fenders interchange? thank you

Pretty shure only the rears do. There's actually a number of differences. Dash, door mechanizms, radiator support, hood,etc.. But, I must say my freind you've found THE year model that is my holy grail. You don't LOVE that grille? Buy another truck, this one is worth to much to butcher that way anyhow.

Its not that I dont like the grill but it looks a lot like a modern dodge grill. I have just been a bigger fan of the other grills. and its hard to find a reasonably priced grill I was sanding the nose piece a big hole showed up. And I thought the hoods where the same because when you look at the part numbers they're the same. but yes i know it is a rare truck. but right now i cant even afford to rebuild the starter let alone buy a new grill for $600+.

I think that Dodge noticed how great the 54-55.1 grill was an decided to mimic it.
If you really feel the need to the early fenders will bolt up directly to the 54 cab without any changes. You will be committing a sin though. Everyone has a 47-53. The 54-55.1 mark a significant improvement in styling for these trucks. Run ahead of the pack and keep the 55.1 the way it is intended. You can purchse a replacement bull nose pretty cheap.
The hoods are physically identical in terms of shape and fit. The differences lie in the emblem mounting holes.
If you cannot afford it now then work on something else until the funds appear.

man you guys are persistant I didnt think mine was such a wanted truck. I also have a 51 ford f2 and it is a rare truck and noone seems to want that one. well at least Fred Sanford did anyway (Go Red Foxx). I think that Ill keep it a 55 first series with a first series grill. Thanks for the advice and support.
