Has anyone taken an air conditioner from one vehicle and fabricated to fit in a 1947 to 1954 chevy truck? I have access to a bunch of vehicles I can take from. I am a decent fabricator, I just do not know much about Air Conditioners. This post is mainly because I dont want to pay the $1000 dollars for the "Vintage Air" system.

Thanks.....Kirk

thought you were into original restorations, lol...will this A/C be 'all chevy'?
Find one of those cazy cans that hang out the window, it'd be worth show points.

Seriously a VW superbeetle AC converts easy.

Yeah I know I know. lol, I am in to original restorations. The only thing is there was no such thing as A/C in 1954. I do have a "Thermador" window cooler. It works but it is not A/C. I live in Arizona where the temperature peaks at 120 degrees in the summer. It averages around 110 degrees. So I thought I would see if there were any fabricators out there that could help me.

So what's the big deal with not wanting to spend the money for a system that is a direct bolt-in that you know will work, when you probably don't think twice about spending all the money on all those  expensive factory options that you can throw at a truck.?  Sometimes in life, we just need to bite the bullit, and spend some cash for something that makes perfect sense, instead of making things more difficult for ourselves. Especially  when we don't know that much about a particular  issue.

I have a buddy who life in AZ and tell me all the time today was 111 and yesterday was 115 like its nothing. No thanks, I'll enjoy my 80's weather with a ocean breezes. Now that I have AC and power windows I don't think I could live without either of them. That applies to any vehicle classic or not.
