Well if you've got an endless money supply there are companies that make carb conversion kits for LS1s.  That would make the swap fairly easy (besides the fact you have to install said conversion kit, which is a lot more than just an intake manifold).

Other than that I just envision a lot of wiring and head scratching getting it all to work with your gauges and other systems.

Hello mmike: I am in the middle of that very job but it is an Ls2 engine and drive with the independent rear susp. but i just finished a LS 5.3 into my 50 gmc I have worked with this stuff for several years and to me it is very easy but if you have some experience with wiring it isn't that difficult. Depending on what year the ls1 is are the assesoreies at the bottom of the engine or on top? Measure the width of the engine and see if you have enough room. The entire wire harness can be modified to fit with what ever options you would like to have in your truck.Any wire conections should be soldered and heat shrunk or you will have trouble latter and keep a record of every thing you do.The wiring diagrams can be printed for alldata.com or some other supply and wright on them as you do it and it will work great when you get it in no more drip bowl carb to gum up or stall at the lights!!!The wire harness to just run the engine and trans isn't very much you can buy them redeay made from companys on the net and that is just plug and play.

I agree with autotec it’s not that hard. They also have companies that you send them your computer and wiring harness and they will program the computer and delete all unnecessary wires and label the ones that you need for you. I was going to do this swap (I have a 5.3 with a 4L60E laying around)but due to the direction of my build I changed my mind. Now I'm going with a 383 stroker with a 700r4. I may end up putting the 5.3 in something else. I have a fuel injected 454 in my 55 Sedan. Its not that hard.

Thanks for the feedback, I think I'm going to go forward with the swap. Not sure on a few of the parts if I'm going to use them are not.  rear end is one of them, I did a tepo on engine, it's an LT1 not LS.  All of the parts came from a 93 Camaro, got the hole drive train, rear end to engine, all parts are on the engine. not too bad for 1500.

Hi mmike and everyone I just got a spectra fuel tank #F1E off a 80s ford 1/2 ton for the rear tank with a efi pump so i ordered the sending unit and plan on mounting the fuel pump from the ls2 very easy but the fuel pressure regulator and filter is mounted on the pump in the tank. But my costumer found a fuel filter on the net that someone makes with the regulator in it with return lines that will run back to the tank with the same fittings so that will be very easy and safe. I will find out who makes it and post it latter if you want. The tank is a 19 gal. and fits right up in the rails but my frame is hand built to fit the ls2 and independent rear susp.but i can check if it fits the stock frame. The sending unit can be matched to your gauge but the float arm is made for the tank.I have pressure/vac sensor in tank but it is just a rubber grommet that can be mounted anywhere in the tank,it also has a hole in the top for breather to fill. You got a great deal on the drive train put it all in.
