So, read up, and I'm guessing that I simply need to replace the gear, but would much rather seek advice before doing anything. I have a '83 Chevy C-10, and noticed when I got on the highway it was reading 35-40 when I was doing around 65-70. Besides the speed differential, there doesn't seem to be much else wrong (no sounds or random movements).

If I do need to replace the gear, what will I need to know before buying one?
