I just bought a '53 truck and could use some help with identifying the engine pls.

I think it's a 216, but need to know for sure.

The head casting number is 3835517, the engine serial number is FAA I96 359.

Also, is there a 'numbers matching' situation for this truck? I have a '65 GTO and I know there is for that...If it's the original engine, I'd like to keep it.

Thanks.

Thanks.
It turns out the 216 is shot, so I have another engine lined up from a '58 Apache.
The head casting shows it as a 1956 235 (#3836848). The number shown on the block tab, to the rear of the distributor is 273194. It looks like an engraved number, not like the cast number on the head. I haven't been able to locate a number like this.

Purchase is on hold until I know what it is. Could you please help me with this in case somebody else buys it!

Thanks.
