My Dad has a 63 Chev pickup and he is looking to fix it up a ***  He asked for my help as I know a bit about engine work etc.

My question is what are his options as far a putting in a newer engine and automatic transmition?  He wants it to be reliable and pull a 10' canned ham trailer every now and then.  The outside and body are not important right now, just getting it updated and easier to drive...  Manual to automatic, power brakes and steering etc.

He has about 5000.00 to spend.

Thanks for any input into this project.
