I rebuilt my 56 the first time years ago and I thought I remembered someone telling me that the 56 body fits on a certain year Ford Ranger P/U frame. I'm exploring some different options and just curious if any experts have some input. Thanks.
The Rangers and Explorer frames are the same. I am putting my '50, F-1 onto a '92 Explorer chassis. The next generation Explorer ('95 & up?) had a V-8 option but the donar price jumps from $400 to $3000 around here... Beware, although the width of the front frame is close to the same as the stock, the rear of the frame is wider and raised up instead of flat like the original! I am not to the point of roughing on the body yet but my tentitive plan is to raise the bed floor and tub it as needed.I have not got the final solution yet because I have to finish adding a 5.5" lift to the chassis before I decide how to mount the body and what tire size I am going to go with...My F-1 was not ever going to be show worthy so I am not worried about the mods needed. My goal is just an offroad capable rig that looks very differant around here. Other than the mods to the bed, I hope to keep it looking as stock as I can afford...This link has some pictures of the project in progress. Photos Here Not knowing the measurements you need for the F100, I hope this helps...

I am Looking to change out the frame on my 51 F1 as well. The current frame has had a bad front end weld job on it and the engine in it is a huge gas guzzling 429. I want to put a modern reliable unmolested frame under my truck with the engine and transmission that match it all. the explorer is the only Donner i have hear any one talk about but haven't heard anyone complete this mod. any updates on how that all worked out for you would be appreciated.
Frame swaps can mean a lot of cutting and welding to get close but not perfect. We build high quality boxed solid '53-'56 frames, rolling chassis, and complete F100. We are finishing a complete build on a '56 F100 & a rolling chassis. I can get you pics soon if you're interested. Our website is currently down, we bought the set ups from Walton Fabrication and we are now producing these chassis. Check out the article on the chassis on classic truck's site: http://www.classictrucks.com/tech/0411cl_walton_fabrication_f100_chassis/viewall.html
